A legacy of style: Beauty college continues legacy in Havasu

More than 40 years ago, Lake Havasu City welcomed its most recognized beauty school, launched by world-renowned hair stylist Charles Bartolomeo and his wife. Today, Charles of Italy Beauty College and Massage Therapy School is under the direction of his daughter and granddaughter, ensuring the family’s legacy continues.

Franki Bartolomeo, 38, has managed the Lake Havasu and Bullhead City institutions for six years, teaming up with her niece Elizabeth Fiumara. Franki, deeply rooted in the industry since childhood, chose to focus on the business side rather than hair styling. She acknowledges that most of the seven instructors were trained by her father himself, adding to the school’s prestige.

“My mom and dad opened the school together in 1980,” Franki reflects. “Dad still visits occasionally, enjoying his retirement and spending time with his grandkids. It’s heartwarming to hear stories from customers who knew him before I was born.”

The school currently has about 50 students across both campuses. These students, under instructor supervision, provide affordable services to local customers. Haircuts by students start at $10, with varied prices based on style or complexity. Manicures begin at $10, pedicures at $18, and skin care treatments start at $20.

“We pride ourselves on bringing in external education, staying updated with the latest trends, and preparing students for their professional careers,” says Franki.

The Charles of Italy Beauty College and Massage Therapy School is located at 1987 McCulloch Blvd, Suite 205. For more details about the school, its public services, and curriculum information for potential students, visit their official website.
