80s forecast this week

Above normal temperatures are expected to persist into the first week of 2025, with highs in the 80s anticipated later this week.

PHOENIX — Arizona kickstarts the New Year with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures, setting a pleasant tone for 2025.

On Wednesday, lower desert areas will experience highs in the low 70s, while higher elevations, like Flagstaff, will peak at around 55 degrees under partly sunny skies. Phoenix’s forecast high is 73 degrees, which is notably seven degrees above the seasonal average.

An Air Quality Alert remains in effect for the Phoenix Metro area through Wednesday. Authorities encourage residents to limit travel, minimize fireplace use, avoid outdoor burning, and refrain from operating gas-powered lawn equipment.

As the week progresses, temperatures are expected to rise. On Friday, Phoenix may reach a high of 80 degrees, breaking the previous record set in 1989. However, this warm spell will be brief, as a weather system moving north will bring temperatures back into the low 70s starting Sunday.
