The Celebration of Arts

Judy Bruce

On May 12th, 100 bags filled with art supplies were presented to young artists at the Celebration of Arts event held at the Cave Creek Unified School District’s Fine Arts Center in Scottsdale. This initiative highlights the importance of recognizing creativity and perseverance in youth, according to Judy Bruce, a former art educator and young artist. The supplies were funded by the Sonoran Arts League, which utilizes revenue from Hidden in the Hills to support art education and community enrichment.

The bag contents aimed to inspire creativity among young artists and included essential tools such as acrylic paints, brushes, canvas, and a variety of drawing materials. Additionally, safety measures like disposable aprons and gloves were provided to encourage best practices in art making. The bags also featured information about the Sonoran Arts League’s Studio Classes.

The presence of robust arts communities in Cave Creek, Carefree, North Phoenix, and Scottsdale underscores the vital role of organizations like the Sonoran Arts League. As a nonprofit, volunteer-driven entity, the League is committed to advancing art and education, enriching the community as a whole. The continuation of art classes in the Cave Creek School District is essential for fostering artistic talent in the region.

Community support is key to maintaining these programs. Not only does the creativity of young artists enhance their lives, but it also enriches the entire community. Participation in local arts initiatives is encouraged, reinforcing the essential message: “You Gotta Have Art!”
