The Roaring Twenties: An Era of Economic Boom and Cultural Revolution
Lecture Series to Explore Pre-WWII Global Dynamics
The Holland Center will host a lecture titled “The World Prior to WWII, A Similar Path?” as part of the Jim Sherbert Lecture Series.
The event will focus on the turbulent period following World War I leading up to World War II, characterized by the Roaring 20s and the Great Depression. This era saw significant political, social, and economic upheavals, which fundamentally altered global dynamics. The lecture aims to investigate how shifts in culture, ideologies, and demographics contributed to precarious leadership decisions that exacerbated global tensions.
Participants will delve into the factors that caused widespread economic strife and international discord during this period. Additionally, the discussion will draw parallels between the major challenges faced nearly a century ago and those confronting the world today.
The lecture is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. A $10 donation is requested at the door.
