The Fey ready to rock the Verde Valley

Amy Winter leads The Fey, a rock band that channels an ’80s and ’90s vibe while blending various musical styles. “Our sound resembles bands like The Dandy Warhols, Veruca Salt, and Blondie, yet we’re versatile enough to explore most genres,” she explained.

Formed in 2017, The Fey has carved a niche in the alternative glam rock scene, describing their music as “alternative glam rock with deep velvety vibes.” Their name pays homage to Celtic mythology about the Fair Folk. The band consists of Karl Jones on lead guitar, David Lynn Harrison on drums, and Lindsey “Lynzi” Kat on bass.

Drummer David Lynn Harrison praised Winter’s songwriting, noting its emotional depth across various musical styles. “Her compositions engage me whether they are hard rock, ballads, or dance tracks. They resonate and invite exploration,” he remarked.

Harrison, who has been with the band for five years, classifies them as a “Generation X, pop-centric alternative rock band.” He finds excitement in their eclectic repertoire, which includes daring covers of unexpected songs like N.W.A.’s “Boyz-n-the-Hood.”

Jones, embracing a theatrical stage presence, performs in a “Phantom of the Opera” mask. This unique touch draws inspiration from Iron Maiden and reflects his musical upbringing in Dublin’s vibrant Temple Bar scene.

Winter acknowledged the vital role of sound engineer Von James, who she refers to as their “fifth member.” She highlighted his commitment to enhancing their sound, contributing significantly to their music’s energetic quality.

The Fey will perform across the Verde Valley this spring, with scheduled shows starting April 17 at Redwall Lounge, Sedona, followed by gigs at Smelter Town Brewery in Clarkdale on May 2, 10-12 Lounge in Clarkdale on May 4, and culminate at Spirit Room in Jerome on May 17.
