An Acacia Crossings man is facing serious legal repercussions after being accused of unlawfully detaining a child. Shawn D. Hajek, 58, allegedly pursued and forcefully restrained a youth involved in a ding-dong-ditch incident, according to Maricopa police.

The police report reveals that Hajek chased the juvenile, pulled him off his bike, and pinned him to the ground. The young victim reported being struck in the head three times during the altercation.

Further details from the police statement indicate that Hajek commanded the juvenile to sit down outside his front door before contacting law enforcement. Officials noted a scrape on the victim’s right knee and visible redness on the back of his neck, suggesting a forceful grab.

The incident unfolded after the juvenile knocked on Hajek’s door and quickly attempted to flee back to his bike. In response, Hajek allegedly chased him down.

Hajek now faces one count of aggravated assault against a child under the age of 15. If convicted, he could receive a sentence ranging from two to eight years in the Arizona Department of Corrections.
