Tempe’s Underage Drinking Sweep: 173 Detained and Multiple Citations Issued

TEMPE, Ariz. — The Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control conducted a major enforcement operation last week, resulting in over 100 citations issued to underage patrons at a local bar. This action took place near the intersection of McClintock Drive and Apache Boulevard.
Authorities responded to multiple reports regarding underage individuals gaining access to the bar. During their investigation, they identified several minors, most of whom allegedly used fake identification to enter the establishment.
A total of 173 individuals were detained during the operation. Among them, 165 received citations, while eight were taken to the city jail. Police are now assessing potential violations against the bar for non-compliance with state liquor laws.
Under Arizona regulations, using a fake ID to access a licensed establishment is classified as a misdemeanor for those under the legal drinking age. Tempe police emphasized the importance of this crackdown, stating, “This targeted underage drinking and sent a strong message: we’re watching.”
Authorities remain vigilant as they continue their investigation into the incidents surrounding the establishment.
