Temperatures Soar into the 70s in the Valley, But Snow Looms North as Weekend Approaches

PHOENIX — A storm system is currently sweeping through Arizona, bringing significant rainfall and snowfall across various regions. In Flagstaff, residents can expect 1-3 inches of snow through Friday night. The storm is forecasted to clear over the weekend, making way for more pleasant weather.
Temperatures are unseasonably cool, with highs in Phoenix hitting below average for this time of year, typically in the mid-80s. As the storm approaches, the Phoenix area may experience light rain Friday afternoon and evening, accompanied by increased winds. Breezy conditions will prevail throughout the Valley, while the high country may see stronger gusts.
The northern parts of the state are already feeling the storm’s effects. Snow is anticipated to begin at elevations of 7,000-8,000 feet, lowering to 6,000 feet as the day progresses. Areas like Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, and the White Mountains could receive 1-4 inches of snow from late Friday into Saturday. Snow levels may drop to 5,000 feet late Friday.
The storm’s center will track through northern Arizona and the Four Corners region, with the most significant impact expected in the High Country. In the Valley, the chances for rain improve as Friday night approaches, although many areas may only see a few sprinkles.
After this storm, clear skies are expected on Saturday, leading into a sunny Easter Sunday with near-normal temperatures across the state. Following the holiday, a fair-weather pattern is anticipated for the following week, bringing warm afternoons with high temperatures returning to the low 90s in the Valley.
The seven-day forecast indicates a daily warming trend: Friday will see highs of 76°F with a chance of afternoon showers, while Saturday will clear out with highs of 78°F. Easter Sunday is projected to be sunny and warmer at 86°F. Temperatures will continue to rise, reaching 91°F on Monday and remaining warm throughout the week.
