Police say they responded to reports of shots fired around 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

PHOENIX — An early morning shooting in the West Valley has claimed the life of one adolescent boy, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers arrived at the scene, located near 91st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road, following reports of gunfire at approximately 2:45 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, they discovered a juvenile boy with at least one gunshot wound, officials said.

Despite swift intervention by the Phoenix Fire Department, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile suspect has been detained, but authorities have yet to release additional details.
