Team USA Secures Second Gold in Thrilling Paris Olympic Victory
A difference of 0.04 seconds was all that separated first and second place.
WASHINGTON — In a thrilling race, Team USA clinched both gold and silver medals in the women’s 100-meter butterfly final at the Paris Olympics.
Torri Huske emerged victorious, capturing her first-ever Olympic gold after narrowly missing out on a podium finish in Tokyo. This marked the second gold medal for the U.S. team in the 2024 Summer Games.
Right on Huske’s heels was her teammate, Gretchen Walsh, who claimed the silver medal in a nail-biting finish.
Earlier in the competition, both Huske and Walsh had contributed to Team USA’s silver medal win in the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay.
The duo was highly anticipated to dominate the 100-meter butterfly event, with Huske and Walsh delivering a dramatic showdown for the top spot.
Torri Huske secured gold with a time of 55.59 seconds, narrowly edging out Gretchen Walsh, who finished with a time of 55.63 seconds.
