T-Bone Collision Blocks Rancho Roads, Injury Count Unclear

A significant collision occurred on West Smith-Enke Road at Desert Greens Drive this morning, partially obstructing a Rancho El Dorado roadway. Around 9 a.m., Maricopa police and fire services arrived at the scene.
The accident involved a Ford sedan, which suffered severe driver’s side damage, deploying its airbags. Opposite the Ford, a Honda SUV was found immobilized with front-end damage. Responding to the incident, Engineer John Campanaro from the Maricopa Fire and Medical Department’s Engine 575 disconnected the sedan’s battery to avoid potential hazards from uninflated airbags.
Maricopa Police Department spokesperson Monica Williams stated that officers were still present at 9:45 a.m., with the extent of any injuries yet to be confirmed. The intersection was littered with debris, cleared by police to restore traffic flow partially.
Shortly after, at 10 a.m., first responders were called to another accident at the same intersection, as reported by Phoenix Regional Dispatch. No additional details about this subsequent crash were immediately available.
This unfolding story will be updated as new information comes to light.
