PHOENIX — In a dramatic encounter early Wednesday morning, Phoenix police officers fatally shot a suspect following a brief pursuit. The incident unfolded around 1:45 a.m. in a neighborhood near 19th and Southern avenues.

The confrontation began when officers attempted a traffic stop. The suspect fled the vehicle, prompting a police K-9 to initiate a search in the vicinity.

Tracking the suspect to a nearby house, authorities located the individual hiding in a trash can. According to police reports, the suspect opened fire on the officers, who subsequently returned fire, resulting in the suspect’s death at the scene.

No officers were injured in the incident, and authorities have confirmed there are no other suspects involved. The identity of the deceased suspect has not yet been disclosed as the investigation continues.
