Suspect Captured a Year Later in East Valley Murder of 23-Year-Old

MESA, Ariz. — Almost a year after a shooting incident, police have arrested a suspect connected to the murder of 23-year-old Gavin Wadzinski.
Wadzinski was discovered unresponsive on a sidewalk near Thomas and Recker roads on April 21, 2024, succumbing to a gunshot wound.
On April 1, 2025, Mesa police apprehended 18-year-old Devin Moll, who allegedly played a role in Wadzinski’s fatal shooting.
During their investigation, authorities examined the victim’s cell phone and found messages indicating Wadzinski and Moll had planned to meet for a transaction, including details about Moll’s vehicle. This crucial piece of information helped police corroborate sighting him in traffic surveillance footage around the time of the shooting.
Moll reportedly stated he believed Wadzinski intended to rob him, leading to his decision to open fire. He now faces a charge of second-degree murder.
