Super Star Unveils the Futuristic Vision for South Bridge’s Next-Gen Car Wash

A new express car wash is planned for the southwest corner of John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue, directly across from Lowe’s Home Improvement. Phoenix-based Super Star Car Wash aims to convert a vacant 2-acre lot into a modern facility equipped with an automated wash tunnel and self-serve vacuum stations.
The proposal is currently under review by the City of Maricopa. It includes plans for a 4,000-square-foot wash tunnel featuring a high-efficiency conveyor system, three express pay stations, and 20 vacuum bays—a reduction from the 34 bays initially proposed in March.
Operating hours for the car wash will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Architectural renderings highlight the design’s emphasis on local aesthetics, featuring textured concrete blocks, ribbed metal panels, and striking red canopies. Additionally, over 16,000 square feet of landscaping is planned to enhance the area’s curb appeal.
The property is zoned for general commercial use and is surrounded by mainly undeveloped lots. However, a nearby Lowe’s is nearing completion, and a cannabis dispensary recently opened on the southeast corner.
Other commercial buildings are also in the pipeline for the South Bridge Marketplace, including a future Panera Bread. A statement from project representative Madison Leake emphasizes that the car wash is a fitting addition to the area.
Leake’s comments encapsulate the project’s intent: “This proposed Super Star will add a necessary service in a suitable location.”
The company asserts that the new facility will not significantly increase traffic, with most customers expected to make quick visits. Noise reduction measures will be in place, including enclosing major equipment and employing noise-reducing technology.
Recent planning discussions in Maricopa highlighted the importance of noise control. A separate car wash proposal was rejected due to noise concerns, showcasing the sensitivity around such developments.
Customers at the Super Star Car Wash will enjoy access from both John Wayne Parkway and a dedicated drive connecting to Lowe’s. Developers plan to create a three-lane queuing area to manage busy times efficiently.
City approval is still needed for the project, with signage applications to follow under a different permit. Leake concluded the proposal by stating that the car wash will serve as an attractive development beneficial to the community.
If approved, this facility would be Maricopa’s third standalone car wash. Fast & Friendly Express Car Wash currently operates two locations in the area, while a potential new entrant, Kerry’s Car Care, has expressed interest but has not moved forward.
Super Star, established in Chandler in 1993, currently operates numerous car washes across Arizona, Southern California, Colorado, and Texas. When contacted, the general manager in Casa Grande could not provide specific details on the construction timeline.
