Booker and Durant help Suns hold off injury-depleted Mavs 125-116

The Phoenix Suns are making a strong push for the playoffs, trailing the Dallas Mavericks by just 1 1/2 games for the final spot in the NBA’s play-in tournament.

In a spirited matchup on Sunday, the Suns defeated a struggling Mavericks team 125-116. Devin Booker led the charge with 24 points, while Kevin Durant contributed 21 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. Notably, Bradley Beal and Grayson Allen also added 19 and 17 points, respectively.

The Mavericks, hindered by injuries, saw Naji Marshall shine with a career-high 34 points. However, their roster dwindled as both Kessler Edwards and Dwight Powell sustained injuries during the game. Edwards returned sporting a bandage over his left eye, but Powell was unable to continue after being treated for a bleeding wound.

Dallas recorded its fifth consecutive loss, matching its longest losing streak of the season. Following Kyrie Irving’s season-ending injury, the Mavericks have struggled and now sit below .500 for the first time since mid-November.

Booker’s timely jumper initiated a crucial 19-2 run for Phoenix, transforming a 22-18 deficit into a 37-34 lead—a point from which they never looked back. The Suns exhibited remarkable efficiency, shooting 58% from the field throughout the contest.

As the season progresses, both teams face a busy schedule ahead; the Suns will visit Memphis, while the Mavericks gear up for a series in San Antonio.
