Sun Tran wants comments on Tucson transit app

Sun Tran is seeking input from Tucson bus and streetcar riders to guide the development of a new transit app. A survey will be available until January 15, inviting participants from the community to share their insights.

Last week, Sun Tran revealed plans for this new app, aiming to “enhance the rider experience and improve access to public transportation services.” The organization encourages residents, transit riders, and stakeholders to complete a brief survey to ensure the app meets community needs.

This follows a series of surveys launched by Sun Tran in the past to refine its services, including feedback on transit fares and usage patterns of its riders across Sun Tran, Sun Link, and Sun Shuttle services. Currently, Sun Tran operates a fleet of 185 buses and 137 vans, alongside the Sun Link streetcar service that navigates through the University of Arizona and Downtown Tucson.

In 2023 alone, Sun Tran recorded nearly 1.7 million rides. The survey, which Sun Tran estimates will take about 10 minutes to complete, presents an opportunity for riders to influence the future of public transportation in Tucson.

Participants can express their preferences on key app features such as real-time bus tracking, trip planning, and service alerts. “Your input matters,” Sun Tran emphasized, highlighting the importance of community engagement in shaping the app’s functionality.
