Students Invited to Take on the ‘Dream, Write, Win’ Challenge
The Arizona State Treasurer’s Office, in collaboration with AZ529, Arizona’s Education Savings Plan, is hosting the fifth annual AZ529 Essay Writing Contest. The contest invites fifth and sixth graders to respond to the prompt: “What is your dream job and how do you plan on achieving it in the future?”
A total of twenty winners across Arizona will each receive $529 for their AZ529 Education Savings Plan accounts. The selection will ensure representation from all 15 counties in Arizona, with at least one winner from various educational types, including district, charter, private, tribal schools, and homeschools. Additionally, Maricopa and Pima counties may have up to five extra winners due to their larger populations.
During her visit, Treasurer Yee provided insights into the AZ529 Education Savings Plan, which supports tax-free savings for various educational paths such as college, vocational training, and more. Yee engaged students in a STEM activity, where they constructed structures using different materials, connecting practical learning with future planning.
Submissions for the essay contest will be accepted until Oct. 6. Interested participants can find more information at www.az529.gov/essaycontest.
