Storm Threats Escalate Later This Week as Heatwave Looms for Weekend
Get ready for highs near 115 this weekend.
PHOENIX — Our chance for blowing dust and severe storms will be going down for the rest of this evening and give way to a tranquil overnight.
On Thursday, widespread storms will be likely across the high country and southeastern Arizona. We’ll be tracking storms moving northward from Tucson later in the day. As a result, we can’t rule out a storm or two in the Valley by the late afternoon/early evening.
Storm coverage will go up for the weekend, but we’ll also be contending with excessive heat in the Valley with highs near 115.
The National Weather Service in Phoenix issued an Excessive Heat Watch for Saturday and Sunday. Due to the excessive heat, we will have a Weather Impact Alert Day on Saturday and Sunday.
