Stolen Car Crash Claims Life and Leaves Grandma and Two Kids Injured

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A tragic car accident occurred at the intersection of 67th and Olive avenues on Wednesday night, resulting in one fatality and several injuries, according to the Glendale Police Department.
The incident took place around 7:30 p.m. when a black 2014 Honda Civic, reported stolen from Phoenix, was traveling at a high speed without headlights. A man in his 20s was behind the wheel, accompanied by a female passenger of the same age.
At the same time, a 49-year-old grandmother was driving her 2013 Toyota Highlander westbound from Alice Avenue. She had her two grandchildren, aged 12 and 6, with her. In an attempt to make a left turn onto southbound 67th Avenue, she did not see the approaching Civic.
In a desperate maneuver, the Civic’s driver swerved left into a shared turn lane, colliding with the Highlander. The driver of the Civic was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Both the grandmother and her grandchildren were also taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Authorities later discovered that the Civic contained handguns and other stolen items linked to previous robberies in Phoenix. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover more details about the thefts and the events surrounding the crash.
