State troopers name road rage suspect said to have opened fire on SR 347

The Arizona Department of Public Safety has identified a suspect involved in a road rage incident that occurred last week on State Route 347. Darnell Edwards Lemons II has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including drive-by shooting, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, endangerment, and criminal damage, according to DPS spokesperson Bart Graves.

The altercation took place on Tuesday when Lemons’ Lexus ES sedan was allegedly cut off by a Ford F-150 pickup truck. In response, Lemons reportedly fired at the truck, striking its tailgate and rear emergency lights.

Troopers apprehended Lemons on Bowlin Road, located south of Maricopa’s main strip, after the shooting incident. Fortunately, the driver of the Ford truck was unharmed. However, authorities transported Lemons to a hospital for an unrelated medical issue. He was subsequently booked into Pinal County jail following his release.

Details regarding the timing of Lemons’ hospital release remain undisclosed, as Graves did not provide that information. InMaricopa is currently seeking incident report documents from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office to uncover further specifics surrounding the shooting and Lemons’ arrest.

Public records indicate that a Darnell Lemons owns property in Maricopa Meadows.
