Soccer Showdown: FC Tucson Men Extend Their Winning Streak Against AMSG FC

FC Tucson showcased a strong performance on Friday night, securing a 4-0 victory over Southern California’s AMSG. This win maintains their position at the top of the Southwest Division table, differing significantly from their previous 19-0 game. Notably, two players from AMSG scored as many goals as FC Tucson did in that last outing.
The match kicked off with an early goal from Filip Arras, a Norwegian wing back, in the 22nd minute. His strike set the tone for the local side. Shortly after, Paul Caliari’s aggressive play led to a penalty when he was fouled in the box by AMSG’s Vincent López. Alexis Ledoux converted the penalty, doubling the lead.
In the second half, Juan Pablo Sánchez capitalized on a defensive error, stealing the ball and deftly placing it past AMSG keeper Jaden Nesperos. The scoreline widened in the 75th minute when Nesperos attempted to clear the ball from an approaching Ledoux but instead kicked it directly to Brandon Sánchez, who redirected it into the net.
This emphatic win marks FC Tucson’s fourth victory of the season, with three being by multiple goals. Head coach Sebastian Pineda expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, noting, “It was a consistent game from us as a team on and off the ball.” He acknowledged areas for improvement, particularly regarding moments when AMSG managed to penetrate their defense.
Pineda emphasized their strategic approach, stating, “We wanted to force play. We knew the weakness that the team had in the buildup.” The team is now preparing for a road trip, facing City SC in San Diego on June 12, with a return match on June 28 at home.
