Simone Biles Reveals Her Body ‘Literally Collapsed’ Post-Paris Olympics

In a recent interview, Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in Olympic history, discussed her uncertain future regarding the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. While she will attend the Games, her participation remains undecided.
Biles emphasized her focus on personal life over competition, stating, “I’m really trying to enjoy life, to spend time with my husband, go support him at his games, live my life as a woman.” Despite her undeniable success in gymnastics, she acknowledged that any decision to return would need to resonate deeply with her. “For me to come back, it would really have to excite me,” she added.
At 28 years old, Biles recognizes the demands of her body. After winning three golds and a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, she experienced significant physical strain. “I felt it in Paris,” she confessed, recalling a moment of collapse after returning to the athlete village. “I was sick for 10 days,” she noted, reflecting on the toll of competition.
During the interview, Biles also praised her competitor, Rebeca Andrade of Brazil, for her resilience and contribution to the sport. Biles remarked that gymnastics can thrive without both of them, acknowledging the emergence of new talent. “A young generation will knock at the door and everything will start again,” she forecasted.
Despite her indecision about competing, Biles remains committed to advocating for mental health awareness. “I am very proud of the work accomplished to reach this point, and I will continue to be the voice of the voiceless,” she said. Her experiences highlight not only the physical but also the mental challenges athletes face, a topic she is passionate about discussing.
