An unprecedented incident unfolded in Senita this August when police arrested a minor during a standoff involving his family.

According to a police report obtained by InMaricopa, the confrontation began on August 18, when officers responded to reports of Dylan K. Rope, 21, behaving erratically at his home on Estrada Street. Charges against Dylan included resisting arrest and aggravated assault on an officer. His father, Dave Rope, 45, was also taken into custody for obstruction and resisting arrest.

Both Dylan and Dave were subject to active warrants at the time. Dave had failed to comply with a court order related to a theft case, while Dylan was arrested earlier in March for drug-related offenses.

When police arrived, they found the younger brother outside, who mistakenly identified himself as Dylan. After officers attempted to detain him, both Dave and the younger brother obstructed their efforts, leading to a physical confrontation.

Attempts by the police to explain the situation were ignored, resulting in Dave being tased during his arrest. Meanwhile, the younger brother faced similar resistance and was read his Juvenile Miranda rights but declined to sign the form.

Inside the house, officers confronted Dylan, who reacted aggressively, prompting the use of a taser to secure his arrest. Reports indicate he further resisted during transport to the squad car, kicking an officer in the process.

Following the incident, both Dave and Dylan were taken to Pinal County Jail, while their younger brother was sent to Juvenile Detention. He faces charges of obstruction and resisting arrest, potentially resulting in a year in juvenile custody.
