Search underway for suspects after shots were fired at a Phoenix police vehicle.


PHOENIX — A significant police operation is currently underway in central Phoenix following a shooting incident involving two officers on Monday night. The event unfolded around 10:15 p.m. when the officers observed two vehicles speeding near Central Avenue and Thomas Road.

As they attempted to initiate a traffic stop on one of the cars, an individual within the vehicle opened fire, discharging several shots towards the officers. Fortunately, neither the officers nor their vehicle sustained any injuries.

The suspects fled the scene, eventually abandoning the vehicle near Second Street and Catalina Drive. Upon stopping, multiple individuals exited the car and fled on foot.

Police have launched an extensive search in the vicinity for the suspects. While one individual has been apprehended, authorities believe that additional suspects may still be at large. This situation is still developing, with further details expected to emerge.
