Arrest made in actor Matthew Perry's death, reports say

Authorities have arrested an individual linked to the death of actor Matthew Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing on the iconic sitcom “Friends.” The arrest was confirmed by a law enforcement official to the Associated Press on Thursday, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the investigation.

Media reports, including one from TMZ, suggest that multiple arrests may have occurred, though such claims remain unverified by other outlets. A press conference has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Pacific time, where federal authorities are expected to release additional information regarding the case.

Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles residence in October 2023. An autopsy revealed significant levels of ketamine in his blood, comparable to dosages used for general anesthesia during surgical procedures. While the actor also drowned in “the heated end of his pool,” the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner ruled his death an accident, with drowning identified as a secondary factor.

Close associates of Perry indicated that he was undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety. However, the medical examiner noted that the timing of his last treatment, which occurred 1.5 weeks prior, could not account for the elevated ketamine levels found during the autopsy, as the drug typically leaves the body within hours.

In May, the Los Angeles Police Department initiated an inquiry, in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Agency and U.S. Postal Inspection Service, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the presence of such high ketamine levels in Perry’s system at the time of his death.

Perry’s legacy continues as fans remember his memorable role on “Friends,” which aired from 1994 to 2004, making him a household name.
