SFD & VVFD’s Bill Boler dies

The Verde Valley Fire District has confirmed the passing of Chief Bill Boler, who served as the district’s Emergency Medical Services coordinator, on the morning of June 3.

With a career spanning over 40 years, Boler made a significant impact in fire and emergency services. He began as a volunteer firefighter with the Camp Verde Fire District and the Camp Verde Ambulance Association. Later, he joined the Sedona Fire District, where he worked from 1988 until his retirement in 2009, ultimately serving as assistant fire chief.

Boler was also affiliated with the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, and the Verde Valley Ambulance Company. He played a pivotal role in leading the Verde Valley CPR and AED Program, which certified over 20,000 residents in lifesaving techniques. He personally trained countless EMTs and paramedics, many of whom still serve in the region today.

His advocacy for early intervention and public preparedness has undoubtedly saved lives while bolstering community resilience. “Chief Boler’s life was a testament to the safety and protection of those in need. His contributions to public safety, education, and community health are immeasurable. We are a stronger, safer community because of Bill’s work and heart. He will be deeply missed,” stated VVFD staff in their release.

The Verde Valley Fire District extends its heartfelt condolences to Boler’s family, friends, and all the individuals and agencies he collaborated with throughout his dedicated service.
