Severe Flooding at Pacana Park Forces Closure of Fields and Playground
A significant flooding incident occurred at Pacana Park due to a broken irrigation line on January 15, 2025. The malfunctioning waterline, located on the west side of the Glennwilde-area park, resulted in a rapid influx of water around 2 p.m.
Employees from the City of Maricopa swiftly responded, shutting off irrigation water for the day. Spokesperson Monica Williams stated that repair efforts would commence the following morning. By 3:30 p.m., active flooding had ceased, but residual standing water and mud obstructed pathways leading to a baseball field, tennis court, and playground.
In response to safety concerns, city workers cordoned off the playground and secured the western ballfield until the site can be restored to a safe condition. Williams emphasized that the areas would remain closed until the water recedes and returns to “playing order.”
