Serious Injury Reported at Desert Sunrise High School

Details remain limited following an incident at Desert Sunrise High School where a construction worker was reportedly injured today. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 a.m., has generated considerable discussion among parents on social media.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the worker fell from a ladder and sustained a head injury upon hitting the sidewalk. Students in the vicinity witnessed the fall and were reportedly shaken by the incident. Authorities were alerted, and a chair was provided for the injured worker to sit in until emergency responders arrived.
Following the distressing event, some students were temporarily relocated to another classroom for the remainder of the hour. Reports indicate that several sought counseling support after witnessing the incident, describing it as a “severe head injury.” As a result of the trauma, some students chose to leave school early.
In response to rampant speculation circulating on social media, Mishell Terry, a spokeswoman for the Maricopa Unified School District (MUSD), clarified the situation. “I can confirm that emergency personnel responded to a medical incident at Desert Sunrise High School today,” she stated. “However, the details you referenced from social media are not accurate. There was no fall from a roof or high structure. Out of respect for privacy, we are unable to provide additional details.”
DSHS Principal Phil Verdugo also addressed the incident in a letter sent to parents. He conveyed, “We want to inform you that emergency personnel responded to a medical incident at Desert Sunrise High School today. The individual involved was not a student or staff member, and there was no disruption to the school day.”
The MUSD is actively monitoring the situation and stated that they welcome any inquiries from concerned parents. Their commitment to ensuring student safety remains a top priority amidst these events. InMaricopa is expected to continue following up on this incident to gather more information.
