Senita’s Entrepreneurial Taproom Set to Spark Buzz at Legacy Retail Hub

Jason Martin, a local entrepreneur, aims to open Orlie’s Taproom next year at the Legacy on Porter retail center in Maricopa. This move comes after the successful addition of a wine bar to the small business scene.
In an interview, Martin shared that his inspiration stemmed from visits to East Valley taprooms. The concept of a neighborhood taproom resonated with him. “Unlike typical bars, taprooms cultivate a sense of community,” he explained, referencing their intimate atmosphere. “They give off that Cheers feeling.”
Orlie’s Taproom will focus primarily on local craft beers and wines. While Martin is considering a limited appetizer menu, he’s wary of straying too far into food service, having heard from other owners that it distracts from the core offering: craft beverages.
The name Orlie carries deep personal significance for Martin. It honors his late son, as well as his grandfather. “Even our website says, ‘This is for you, son,’” he noted, reflecting on the emotional weight behind the business.
Community response has been enthusiastic. Martin’s dedicated Facebook page has gained 127 followers, with many eager comments from potential customers. “I hope to see more small businesses emerge in Maricopa,” he said, emphasizing the importance of local entrepreneurship.
However, the path to opening is not straightforward. Construction on Legacy on Porter has not yet begun. The project awaits approvals from the Maricopa Planning and Zoning Commission, as well as the City Council. Despite these challenges, Martin remains optimistic. “I aim to open by the end of next year, if not sooner,” he stated, concluding with hopes for a flourishing small business environment in the city.
