Sen. Kern Returns to Phoenix Following South Dakota Accident
PHOENIX — Arizona state Senator Anthony Kern (R – Dist. 27) has provided an update regarding his health following a serious auto accident in South Dakota on December 14.
In a social media post on December 22, Kern announced that he has been released from the hospital and is “out of the critical stage.” However, he is currently unable to fly back to Phoenix due to a collapsed lung, which he sustained in the crash.
Sharing details of his injuries, Kern revealed he also suffered nine broken ribs and two fractured vertebrae. He described the trauma to his body dramatically, noting, “My body is purple on the right side.”
Kim Quintero, director of communications for the Arizona State Senate Republican Caucus, explained that Kern was visiting family and friends in South Dakota when the accident occurred. He and a companion were driving through a snowstorm when their vehicle hit ice, causing them to lose control.
Kern’s resilience during recovery appears strong, as he expresses gratitude and determination in his recent updates. He conveyed, “Prayers Up!!” underscoring his hope for a swift return to health.
