Sen. Kern Battles Injuries from Out-of-State Crash but Emerges from Critical Condition
Arizona state Senator Anthony Kern (R-Dist. 27) was involved in a serious car accident on December 14 while visiting South Dakota.
PHOENIX — Senator Kern has provided an update regarding his health following the incident. On December 22, he announced via social media that he is no longer in critical condition and has been discharged from the hospital.
Despite his progress, Kern is unable to fly back to Phoenix due to a collapsed lung sustained in the crash. He also reported suffering from nine broken ribs and two fractured vertebrae. “My body is purple on the right side,” he elaborated on the extent of his injuries.
According to Kim Quintero, director of communications for the Arizona State Senate Republican Caucus, Kern had traveled to South Dakota to be with family and friends. The crash occurred during a snowstorm when Kern and a companion lost control of their vehicle on ice.
