The semifinals are now complete in 4A high school football! Here are the teams that will battle for a state championship.

In a historic moment for Arizona high school football, the upcoming 4A State Championship will feature two schools vying for their first-ever title. On Friday, December 6, at Arizona State University’s Mountain America Stadium, No. 2 Arizona College Prep will face off against No. 4 Mica Mountain.

Both teams have climbed the ranks swiftly to reach this pinnacle. Arizona College Prep, with a record of 12-1, began competing at the varsity level in 2017 as a member of the 2A division. They have only reached the playoffs three times prior, making this their first journey past the quarterfinals.

Mica Mountain, boasting an undefeated record of 13-0, joined the varsity ranks just two years ago. After an impressive semifinal run last year, where they fell to the eventual champion, they have now advanced to the championship game, showcasing their rapid development as a contender.

In the semifinals, ACP dominated No. 3 Snowflake with a decisive 59-21 victory, while Mica Mountain produced an upset over No. 1 Yuma Catholic, winning 24-14. This matchup marks the first meeting between these two teams on the football field, according to MaxPreps.

The championship game is set to kick off at 4 p.m. and promises to be a thrilling event for players and fans alike.
