Sedona Red Rockers Generate $12,450 to Enhance Local Trails

For the third consecutive year, the Sedona Red Rockers meetup group has successfully sponsored a fundraising campaign for the Sedona Red Rock Trail Fund. During a vibrant Mexican fiesta hosted by member Kim True on April 12, it was announced that the two-week fundraising drive raised an impressive total of $12,450, bolstered by matching funds from two group members.
U.S. Forest Service District Ranger Alex Schlueter and SRRTF President Dick Williams expressed gratitude at the celebration, acknowledging the group’s dedication to maintaining the trails. USFS Trails Coordinator Kevin Kuhl provided an overview of completed projects in this fiscal year and proposed new trail developments aimed at enhancing user experiences.
The Sedona Red Rockers consists of about 2,800 members who share a passion for outdoor recreation in the stunning red rock landscape. Led by Mike Coltrane, the organization welcomes new members through the meetup.com platform.
In his remarks, Williams emphasized the significance of the contributions made by the Red Rockers. “Your collective and individual generosity demonstrates true commitment. This event not only celebrates our shared commitment but also honors the trails that we all cherish and enjoy daily. This year’s contributions have funded the seasonal crew necessary for trail upkeep,” he stated.
Significant trail renovation projects have been completed, including enhancements to the Hardline Trail, the Bell Rock Single Track Bypass, and the West Fork Trail. Furthermore, work on the Turkey Creek trail system is set to commence in the fall.
