Sedona Elks Serve Up Heartwarming Thanksgiving Feast
The Sedona Elks Lodge is set to host its annual free Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Exalted Ruler Julie Spector reported that the event saw 750 guests last year, a decrease from the pre-pandemic attendance of 1,200.
No reservations are needed, and everyone is welcome. Donations are accepted to support the lodge’s charitable efforts aimed at helping veterans and children. Typically, the event raises between $1,200 and $1,500, supplemented by a $1,000 contribution to help defray meal preparation costs.
Spector emphasized the community’s involvement as the highlight of the event. “We get many volunteers from the community, and they often bring their families,” she noted. “It’s just a wonderful community event. I usually serve cranberry sauce or green beans, and it’s so much fun.”
This year’s dinner will feature a traditional feast, including turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, and pumpkin pie, accompanied by coffee and tea.
Seating will be first-come, first-served. Spector encourages attendees to “sit with your friends and meet new ones.”
In addition to the dinner, the lodge will also prepare meals for Meals on Wheels and deliver food to local first responders and other charitable organizations across the Verde Valley.
Spector highlighted the event’s community aspect, stating, “It’s all about the community. That’s why I joined the Sedona Elks Lodge—to be active and help get meals to those who cannot attend.”
