Sedona election fundraising tops $90,000

The latest campaign finance reports for the April-to-July fundraising period from the candidates for Sedona City Council and mayor have been released. Cumulatively, candidates and committees garnered $57,265.10 during this period, amounting to a yearly total of $90,374.59.

Mayor

Incumbent Mayor Scott Jablow, who is seeking reelection, reported raising $12,760 and spending $17,037.90. His total fundraising for the year stands at $30,985, while his campaign currently has an outstanding balance of $16,506.55.

Former Vice Mayor John Martinez collected $12,010 in the latest period and spent $5,595.38. Over the year, he has raised $14,110, with his campaign holding an outstanding balance of $6,626.04.

Council

Incumbent Councilwoman Kathy Kinsella, also seeking reelection, raised $1,655 and spent $6,039.70. She has raised $3,373 this year, leaving her campaign with an outstanding balance of $654.28.

First-time council candidate Derek Pfaff reported raising $7,665 and spending $8,419.57. His total fundraising for the year is $9,206.49, with an outstanding campaign balance of $220.43. Notably, Pfaff’s contributions included $1,000 from out-of-state donors and $990 in personal funds.

Incumbent Vice Mayor Holli Ploog, who is running for reelection, raised $2,030 and spent $7,547.05. She has accumulated a total of $11,555 this year, with an outstanding campaign balance of $6,446.25. Ploog’s fundraising featured a $500 contribution from the Arizona List political action committee, which supports “electing more pro-choice Democratic women.”

First-time council candidate Katherine Todd raised $2,901 during the reporting period and overall for the year. She spent $547.77, leaving her campaign with an outstanding balance of $2,353.23. Her funds included $700 from personal finances.

The Save the Cultural Park Committee, supporting a referendum against the city council’s rezoning of part of the Sedona Cultural Park for a car camp for homeless workers, raised $18,244.10 and spent $5,636.97 in the reporting period. They have raised $20,751.77 this year, with an outstanding balance of $8,102.13, including $12,750 in cash and $5,494.10 in in-kind contributions.
