Searing Heat Wave Set to Grip Us Today and Tomorrow!

PHOENIX — Arizona is bracing for an unprecedented spike in temperatures, with forecasts indicating the possibility of the first 100-degree day of the year as early as Tuesday. This extreme heat event would mark one of the earliest occurrences of such a high measurement in the state’s history.
Historically, the only recorded 100-degree day in March happened on March 26, 1988. As a high-pressure system takes hold, daily highs across the valley are expected to consistently flirt with the 90s, culminating in a projected high of 99 degrees on Tuesday. This would surpass the existing record of 96 degrees for that day.
Typically, residents can expect the first 100-degree day of the year around May 2. Although temperatures might not quite reach the miraculous triple-digit mark, the potential remains for a brief peak at it on Tuesday.
Following this heatwave, a slight cool down is anticipated as the high-pressure system begins to weaken. By the end of the week, temperatures are forecasted to drop to the mid-80s, resulting in more comfortable conditions.
The seven-day forecast highlights the extent of this heat event:
MONDAY: 95/67 Record heat
TUESDAY: 100/70 Record heat
WEDNESDAY: 96/67 Still hot
THURSDAY: 94/66 Mostly sunny
SATURDAY: 84/60 Sunny & seasonable
SUNDAY: 86/62 A few clouds around
