Scottsdale police looking for woman accused of stealing $36,500 from school PTA

The suspect had recently been elected treasurer of the Cocopah Middle School PTA before the alleged theft was discovered.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Scottsdale police are on the lookout for a woman accused of embezzling $36,500 from the Cocopah Middle School PTA.

Nubia Gonzalez, recently appointed as the PTA’s treasurer in April, assumed control of the organization’s bank accounts during the summer. Early in July, the PTA president noticed that their savings accounts had been emptied.

Subsequent investigations revealed multiple withdrawals from June 28 to July 1. Efforts to reach Gonzalez have been unsuccessful, and the address she provided to the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) was determined to be fake.

Authorities urge anyone with information on Gonzalez’s whereabouts to contact 480-312-TIPS.
