Scottsdale PD searching for school APT treasurer after money disappears

The suspect had recently been elected treasurer of the Cocopah Middle School PTA before the alleged theft was discovered.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Scottsdale police are looking for a woman accused of stealing $36,500 from the Cocopah Middle School PTA.

Police said Nubia Gonzalez had been elected treasurer of the school PTA in April and took control of its bank accounts this summer.

The PTA’s president noticed in early July that the organization’s savings accounts had zeroed out. It was later learned that several money withdrawals had been made from the PTA’s accounts between June 28 and July 1.

Police said nobody has been able to contact Gonzalez and the address she gave to SUSD was “fraudulent.”

Anyone with information about Gonzalez’s whereabouts can call 480-312-TIPS.
