Scottsdale Christian Academy sued for threatening voicemail accusation

An Arizona family is embroiled in a legal battle against Scottsdale Christian Academy, alleging significant mistreatment during the daughter’s senior year. The Okland family claims they faced undue scrutiny after the school accused the father, Scott Okland, of leaving a threatening voicemail for an administrator.

Despite Scott investing $7,500 in a forensic analysis to demonstrate his innocence, the school allegedly continued to treat him with suspicion. The emotional toll on the family has been considerable, leading to their filing of a lawsuit in Maricopa County Superior Court on August 7.

The lawsuit alleges breach of covenant, along with claims of both negligent and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Jennifer Okland, the mother, expressed deep concern over the impact these accusations have had on their daughter Avery during her critical final year of high school.

As the case unfolds, it highlights broader issues of trust and communication within private educational institutions, raising questions about how such allegations are handled. The Okland family seeks accountability for the emotional strain placed upon them by the school’s actions.
