School District Employee Arrested for Threats Against Donald Trump Jr.

TEMPE, Ariz. — Tempe police have arrested a 24-year-old man accused of issuing online threats against Donald Trump Jr. and conservative figure Charlie Kirk. The suspect, identified as Daniel Ashpes, made the threats following an automated RSVP request for a political rally that Trump Jr. attended last week.
Ashpes reportedly confessed to sending the threatening messages and is currently facing misdemeanor charges. This incident has raised concerns, particularly as it was tied to a high-profile political event in the area.
The Tempe Union High School District confirmed that Ashpes is employed there. The district issued a statement noting, “Mr. Daniel Ashpes is a Tempe Union High School District employee. He has been placed on administrative leave as authorities investigate the situation at hand. While we cannot comment on the specifics of the situation, we are aware that Tempe PD has filed charges related to alleged online threats. TUHSD does not tolerate or condone any form of threats or harassment made by employees or students.”
This incident follows a pattern of concerning threats in the Valley. Recently, another individual was convicted for making threats against Maricopa County Elections officials, highlighting growing tensions surrounding the upcoming elections.
As the political climate tightens in the U.S., incidents like this are likely to become more frequent, prompting discussions about safety and free speech.
