The Maricopa Unified School District (MUSD) has unveiled a dedicated website and a podcast to engage voters ahead of the bond election scheduled for November 5. This initiative aims to keep pace with the growing student enrollment, which is nearing 10,000 across the district.

MUSD officials, including Superintendent Tracey Lopeman, emphasize the importance of Bond Proposition 488. This bond is seen as essential to accommodate the rapid increase in student numbers while ensuring the quality of education within the community. “We know that voters have a choice, and we want to make sure everyone in our community has the information they need to make an informed decision that will shape the future of our schools,” Lopeman stated.

In response to the demand for more educational facilities, the school board initiated a $70 million special bond election in June. This funding will be allocated to build two new K-8 schools and to enhance high school facilities, all without raising the current tax rate. MUSD representatives believe this financial strategy will help remedy inadequate state funding issues.

The newly launched “Just the Facts” website serves as a comprehensive resource for voters, detailing the intended use of the bond funds, implications for taxpayers, and voting options available to residents. For those seeking deeper insights, the “Inside MUSD” podcast features discussions about Bond Prop 488 and is accessible on platforms such as Spotify and iTunes.

Effective communication during this busy election period is crucial. MUSD aims to ensure that voters can easily access important information to make decisions that will impact the district’s educational future.
