Santa and Mrs. Claus Reveal Behind-the-Scenes Secrets!

In an unexpected yet delightful twist, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus made a special appearance at the Sedona Heritage Museum on December 14 during the “Merry Music at the Museum” event. Their presence rekindled the holiday spirit among attendees as they spread joy and cheer.
Executive Director Nate Meyers shared the hurdles involved in securing Santa’s attendance, citing his immense popularity. “We promised great treats and lots of good music, which ultimately convinced him to make the trip,” Meyers explained, noting the contrasting weather between Sedona and the North Pole.
Santa and Mrs. Claus engaged with the public, participating in events such as “Breakfast and Photos with Santa” at the Cottonwood Recreation Center earlier that day. Despite the expected requests for gifts, Santa reassured local residents that every child in Sedona and Cottonwood is on the nice list. “It’s got to be how pretty it is here,” he remarked with a jovial smile.
Maintaining his magic and excitement year after year requires effort from Santa. He talked candidly about his preparations for Christmas, highlighting the importance of indulging in “lots of cookies and lots of sleep.” Contrary to common expectations, protein shakes do not feature in his regimen; instead, Mrs. Claus keeps his diet in check. “It’s the dietary shakes that keep me from putting on too much weight,” he joked. Mrs. Claus added, “He loves a cup of hot chocolate at night, especially this time of the year.”
Santa expressed enthusiasm for the festive season. “Nice music, nice views, and having Mrs. Claus next to me,” he stated when asked what keeps him motivated. He also revealed his fondness for listening to KAHM 102.1FM while flying over Yavapai County.
During the event, Santa had a playful exchange about modern living. When asked if multi-family housing could ease his delivery process, he humorously noted it might add confusion to his traditional approach. Nonetheless, he confirmed his commitment to evolution, both personally and professionally. “Mrs. Claus helps me groom my hair and beard,” he shared, nodding to the elves becoming more modernized.
In a lighthearted moment, Santa announced a potential shift in his energy policy, indicating he would consider moving away from giving fossil fuels to children on the naughty list. “Sometimes he lets the naughty children rake up the reindeer poo,” Mrs. Claus chimed in, providing a glimpse into the couple’s playful dynamic.
Santa also offered wisdom on misbehavior. “All of us are naughty at one time or another,” he said. “But when we make up for what we’ve done or apologize, it takes us off the naughty list.” He acknowledged the challenges he faces and jokingly admitted to frustration when dropping gifts, particularly those made overseas.
In a heartwarming exchange with a child, Santa revealed the depth of his understanding. “I asked one child what they wanted for Christmas,” he recounted. “They said they just wanted their friend to be happy. I told them to love her more, and she will be happier.”
The day concluded on a optimistic note, with Santa and Mrs. Claus leaving a lasting impression on the families who attended the event, embodying the true spirit of the season.
