Saguaro National Park holds annual holiday caravan Dec. 27

Saguaro National Park East is gearing up for its annual holiday caravan through the stunning cactus forest on the evening of Friday, December 27. Starting at 5 p.m., guided tours led by park rangers will commence every 30 minutes, concluding at 8 p.m. Each of these two-hour adventures includes a leisurely quarter-mile stroll on a fully accessible trail, with visitors required to use their own vehicles during the tour.

This year’s caravan will delve into the natural history and folklore surrounding the winter solstice, highlighting the starry skies, the Sonoran Desert’s resilient flora and fauna, and prominently featuring the iconic saguaro cactus.

Visitors can enjoy refreshments and various activities at the visitor center before and after their tour. The park advises attendees to bring their own water, snacks, and flashlights, as well as dress appropriately for cooler temperatures. Programs are designed to accommodate all ages and physical abilities.

Reservations are essential, given the limited availability of spaces. Interested participants can secure a reservation by calling 520-733-5153 or by visiting the visitor center located at 3693 S. Old Spanish Trail. While the holiday caravan itself is free, a $25 admission fee per vehicle is required for entry to the park, valid for seven days at both Saguaro National Park East and West.

For additional details, visitors are encouraged to consult the National Park Service website or contact the park directly at 520-733-5153.
