The Madison Elementary School District has officially broken ground on the renovation of the Rose Lane Elementary School campus, located at the intersection of Rose Lane and 12th Street in North Central Phoenix. This significant project, which is expected to be completed by the summer of 2027, is designed by Grace Design Studios and will be constructed by McCarthy Building Companies Inc.
Madison Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Guerin expressed excitement about the project, highlighting the collaboration between the school district, the architects, and McCarthy. “This groundbreaking is a pivotal moment in the history of Madison Rose Lane Elementary,” she stated, emphasizing the commitment to maintain the school’s heritage while enhancing its facilities for future students.
The campus serves over 600 students and is known for its specialized programs in visual and performing arts. Funded by the 2023 community-approved bond, the renovation will unfold in phases, including a new two-story classroom building that encompasses 28 classrooms, a dance studio, a music room, and an interactive library. Additional facilities will feature separate kindergarten and physical education buildings, as well as a multipurpose performing arts venue that will function as both a gymnasium and cafeteria.
In addition, the enhancement plan includes the construction of a new preschool wing catering to the Madison Adventure Club for before-and-after school care. Upon its completion, the campus will also boast baseball and softball fields, expanded parking, and a space dedicated to district-wide professional development.
The revamped Rose Lane Elementary School is scheduled to open its doors in time for the 2027-28 school year, aiming to foster creativity and artistic exploration among its students. Throughout the construction process, Grace Design Studios and McCarthy plan to involve students through classroom visits and construction tours to offer them insight into the development of their new learning environment.
