Roots vs. Roost: The Name Game That’s More Than Just a Typo!

Chris Spear, owner of Roots Eatery, is addressing a troubling confusion among some diners in Maricopa. He wants to clarify that Roots Eatery is distinct and unrelated to The Roost Sports Bar & Café.

Spear strongly asserts that Roots Eatery is not closing its doors, emphasizing its identity as a restaurant rather than a sports bar. “We will continue to serve our customers at 20046 N John Wayne Parkway, Suite 104,” he stated.

His frustration stems from repeated misunderstandings among customers. “We had people come in last night saying, ‘Oh, you’re closing,’” Spear remarked, referencing the ongoing mix-up.

The Roost, located in a nearby strip mall, is set to permanently close after Dec. 22, as confirmed by its owner, Ralph Skrzypczak. This has only added to the ongoing confusion since True Grit Tavern was rebranded as The Roost, leaving Spear annoyed at the frequent errors.

Looking ahead, Spear hopes that the closure of The Roost will eliminate the mix-up altogether. “Once The Roost is closed, I trust customers will better remember where to find us,” he concluded.
