The Pima Community College softball team continued its dominant performance, improving to 14-0 overall and 10-0 in the ACCAC after sweeping Scottsdale Community College in a doubleheader on Friday. This marked the first two losses of the season for Scottsdale, which now stands at 8-2 and 4-2 in conference play.

Sophomore Natalya Rivera had a standout performance, finishing the day with four hits in six at-bats, including three home runs and a double. She drove in six runs and scored five times. Teammates Alyssa Noriega and Talia Martin also made significant contributions; Noriega went 3 for 5 with an RBI and four runs, while Martin recorded two hits, two runs, and four walks. Freshman pitcher Sariah Ferrentino and Arianna Flores were instrumental in the victories, both securing wins in the circle.

In Game 1, the Aztecs shut out Scottsdale with a decisive 5-0 victory. Flores pitched a complete seven-inning game, throwing a no-hitter and striking out 12 batters while issuing three walks. Pima built a four-run lead in the third inning, highlighted by Rivera’s three-run home run and Marx’s RBI double. Rivera later added a solo home run, solidifying the Aztecs’ control of the game.

Game 2 showcased the Aztecs’ offensive power as they defeated Scottsdale 10-2 in a five-inning run-rule victory. Pima erupted for four runs in the first inning, with contributions from Marx, Noriega, and Julissa Lopez, as well as a single from Cheyanne Ortiz that brought Rivera home. The Aztecs added to their lead with two more runs in the third inning and then three home runs in the fifth, including Rivera’s third of the day.

Ferrentino also excelled in Game 2, allowing only two hits and two earned runs over five innings, striking out two batters. The Aztecs will look to continue their winning streak as they travel to Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Tuesday for their next game, with the first pitch scheduled for noon.
