Arizona State Representative Quang Nguyen has been recognized for his unwavering commitment to Second Amendment rights. Earlier this month, the Arizona Citizens Defense League (AzCDL) honored him with the “Legislator of the Year” award for his advocacy in this area.

Expressing his gratitude, Nguyen stated, “I’m deeply honored to receive this recognition from the Arizona Citizens Defense League. Protecting the Second Amendment is a responsibility I take seriously, and I will continue to stand with the citizens of Arizona to ensure their rights are not infringed upon.” His collaboration with the AzCDL, he noted, is crucial for safeguarding the liberties of Arizona’s firearm owners.

As Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Nguyen has been instrumental in shaping legislation that defends gun owners’ rights while countering attempts to weaken these protections. His leadership position gives him significant influence over which proposals advance in the legislature.

Recently, Nguyen requested a review of a firearm ordinance from the City of Sedona, arguing that its provisions conflict with state law. He pointed out that the ordinance’s prohibition on carrying firearms is “invalid and unenforceable” as it exceeds state authorization.

Nguyen’s advocacy for Second Amendment rights is not unprecedented within his team; last year, his seatmate Representative Selina Bliss received the same award. Moreover, his leadership and service were recognized nationally when he was selected for GOPAC’s 2024 Class of Emerging Leaders, a distinction awarded to exemplary Republican legislators.

The AzCDL, the organization that honored Nguyen, is dedicated to protecting individual rights enshrined in the Arizona Constitution. Among its goals are: restoring the right to carry firearms freely, reducing restrictions on lawful carrying in public spaces, and ensuring consistent firearms laws throughout the state. These objectives reflect a commitment to empowering citizens and maintaining their rights.
