Rep. Crane Reveals Footage Claiming Dems Intentionally Overloaded Blue Districts with Illegal Immigrants

By Matthew Holloway |
During a recent hearing of the House Homeland Security Committee, Congressman Eli Crane from Arizona (CD-2) accused Democrats of leveraging illegal immigration to inflate their congressional district populations for redistricting purposes. This assertion was supported by Crane’s presentation of a video featuring Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY), who openly acknowledged this strategy.
As the hearing progressed, Crane questioned Lora Ries, Director of the Border Security and Immigration Center at The Heritage Foundation, regarding the benefits liberal states might derive from mass illegal immigration and unchecked parole. Ries responded, emphasizing the impact of headcount on redistricting, stating, “They’re counted in the census even though non-citizens can’t vote and are not supposed to vote.” These counted figures are essential for congressional redistricting and determining electoral college votes.
Crane further probed, asking, “Would you agree that redistricting is a major political outcome for Democrats welcoming migrant caravans into their communities?” Ries concurred, asserting that it enhances their demographic representation and leads to more electoral districts.
The congressman then referenced the Constitution, questioning if the current use of illegal immigration for redistricting reflects the framers’ intentions outlined in Article 1, Section 2, Clause 1. Ries agreed, suggesting a deviation from the original purpose.
Crane played a clip from Rep. Yvette Clarke, who remarked on the capacity of her New York district to accept migrants. Her comments hinted at using these new arrivals to bolster her political base for redistricting. Crane characterized her remarks as emblematic of the Biden administration’s detrimental immigration policies aimed at gaining political leverage.
Wrapping up his statements, Crane critiqued Democrats for attributing blame to former President Trump for policies directed at prioritizing American citizens. He argued that the approach taken by Trump addressed the issues stemming from the current administration’s strategies. Crane concluded that failing to resolve the immigration dilemma could jeopardize the Democrats’ prospects in upcoming elections.
In a follow-up, Crane shared the hearing’s critical moments on X, asserting that Democrats exploited the border crisis to enhance their standing before redistricting.
