Arizona Congressman Eli Crane (R-AZ02) has announced a call for applications for the Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program. This initiative is specifically targeted at Veterans, Gold Star Families, and Active-Duty Spouses, offering a unique opportunity in his Prescott office for a two-year, paid position.

The selected candidate will manage veteran-related casework and act as a liaison between constituents and various government agencies. According to Crane’s office, this program aims to foster employment for veterans within the U.S. House of Representatives, allowing them to work directly for a Member of Congress.

Responsibilities will also include connecting with local veterans organizations, such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, alongside attending local events. The position comes with a competitive starting salary of $54,000 annually.

In his statement, Congressman Crane emphasized the importance of supporting veterans, stating, “As a veteran myself, I know firsthand the challenges and bureaucratic hurdles within our system. Our nation’s heroes deserve nothing less than the highest quality of service.” He expressed pride in collaborating with this program to offer essential assistance to veterans and urged qualified individuals to apply.

Eligibility requirements are specific. Veterans must be honorably discharged, released from active duty within the last six years, and remain at or below pay grades E-5/O-3/W-2. However, those receiving a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authority retirement are not eligible.

Gold Star Families, defined as surviving spouses, children, parents, and siblings of veterans who died in service or from service-connected disabilities, may also apply. Additionally, spouses of active-duty servicemembers must be married to military personnel engaged full-time and subject to relocation upon each duty tour. Spouses affected by Title X mobilization are excluded from eligibility.
