Rep. Crane Challenges Dem PAC’s 2026 Strategy: ‘Bring It On’

By Matthew Holloway |
A Democratic Super PAC, funded by prominent figures such as Michael Bloomberg, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, hedge fund manager Tom Steyer, and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, has set its sights on Arizona’s 2nd District Congressman Eli Crane. The organization plans to challenge Crane in the upcoming 2026 Congressional midterm elections, allocating $50 million to this effort. Crane responded assertively on X, stating, “Bring It,” alongside a report from Fox News that identified him as one of 14 targeted Republicans.
In his message, Crane emphasized the resilience of his constituents against what he described as “phony attacks by coastal elites.” He expressed confidence in the support he has from the voters in his district.
Fox News reported that the House Majority PAC is launching a new initiative named the “2026 Win Them Back Fund” to recapture working-class voters who have shifted toward Republican candidates in recent elections. Mike Smith, president of the PAC, articulated the aim of this initiative, highlighting its importance for the party’s strategy moving forward.
Besides Crane, the PAC also intends to focus on other Republicans, including Nick Begich (AK), David Valadao (CA-22), Ken Calvert (CA-41), Gabe Evans (CO-08), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01), and John James (MI-10).
The House Majority PAC acknowledged the challenges faced in maintaining support from a diverse working-class voter base. They indicated that the “2026 Win Them Back Fund” aims to address these hurdles. The PAC outlined its strategy to win back these voters through targeted investments in recruitment and programming.
Despite criticisms directed at billionaires participating in the electoral process, high-profile donations have bolstered the PAC. Noteworthy contributions include $13 million from Bloomberg, $3 million from Pritzker, and $2 million from Steyer.
